5 Tips to a Happy Healthy Holiday
The holiday season is here whether we like it or not. This can bring up all kinds of guilt, weight gain, crazy-busy and at the end of the season, we realize we didn't even enjoy any of it. Let's ramp up for the end of the year, and be ahead of the game for 2020. I am offering a FREE Happy Healthy Holiday Survival Course. In case you can't make it...Here are my top 5 tips to a happy healthy holiday.
1. Slow Down
I know it sounds ridiculous when you are adding things to your schedule. Something has to give. Do a quick time-audit. For one day, write down where you spend every minute of your day. I mean every minute. 6:01 - bathroom; 6:05 Shower; 6:12 Scrolling Facebook and Instagram; 6:45 Running late get dressed no breakfast.
You will more than likely find where you lose your head and what makes you feel rushed and busy all day. Now, you can take that time and plan your days better, go to bed 15 minutes earlier, get up 15 minutes earlier.
Netflix , Instagram and Facebook can wait. Try not to consume information until you have been productive. Look at your schedule so you know what's coming and you can thwart surprises.
2. Pick Your Priorities
Once you can plan your day, you can put the things that are truly important into those time slots. Got a big project at work, turn off your notifications and get it done.
Take lunchtime to actually eat, and not consuming more information on social media. Breathe, get out of the building - even 5 minutes - get some air. Plan a lunch with a friend 2-3 times a week, this will force you to get out of the office. Spending time with other humans during the Holiday season can leave us fulfilled instead of drained.
Making healthy food choices will also help your energy and concentration.
Breaks in our day actually lead to increased productivity. Working through lunch will leave you frazzled and you won't digest properly.
3. Become Aware of your Action
Once you have realized you have more time than you knew, audit your actions. Are you actually doing what you need to do to accomplish your top 3 tasks? Or have you found some other diversion or distraction? Self awareness is the number one key to getting more done and staying calm. If you are calm and getting your stuff done - that will lead to feelings of accomplishment and joy.
4. Reorder and Reorganize You Life
As you become self aware, you will be able to become more focused on doing those things that bring you happiness and joy. You will have time to meal plan and batch cook a couple times a week. Being healthier, leading your own health first, always leads to more productivity in other parts of our lives. We have more energy and clarity, and we can do more.
Also, you can choose who and where you want to spend your holidays. You do not have to do what has always been done. Mix it up. Variety is the spice of life. I know you may have relatives that do not agree. You are in charge of your own life. You manage your emotions and let them manage theirs. It's called being a grown-up.
5. Keep Yourself Sane
Following these easy steps will help you feel more balanced during the holidays. I am offering a Free Happy Healthy Holiday Survival Course in a private Facebook group.
